As part of Senator José Rodríguez’ ongoing efforts showcasing District 29, the Senator’s office held a call for artists to display artwork at his District 29 Office. Three of my pieces were selected and will be on display from December 7 through May 1 of next year.
The Senator will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Holiday Open House at the El Paso office on Friday December 7th. from 4-6:00 p.m. at 100 N. Ochoa, Suite A. If you missed my works on display at the Crossland Gallery you can check them out there. The pieces selected are:
Laying the groundwork for another small painting, this one is 12″ X 9″. I had to get a bunch of small brushes, most of mine are medium to large sized and not useful at this level. The challenge for me is to try and focus/distill the image down without losing some of my painting characteristics. The next one I’ll be starting is even smaller!
I’m two days into a new painting and its coming along quick. It’s smaller than I’m used to working with, but the advantage here is speed.
Over the last few years, I have shot a ton of photos. Usually I try to work several together into my large collage style paintings. After browsing through my sets on Flickr, I kind of felt that many should be interesting little character sketches in their own right. I’m once again going to try something I don’t normally do, and work on these little pieces concurrently with my larger pieces.
Here we go off into uncharted territory, so I think it’s fitting that I start with a plane that was out at the War Eagles Museum.
